Understanding Your Two-Year Old

Says Karren Hitchcock, "I came across some interesting information in my edcuational pshychology class that might be of interest to the moms of 2 year olds. I know the terrible 2s can be hard on parents and thought this might give all the moms some insight."

"Having one's own way is a basic part of human development. . . . It is an important part of socialization to learn to wait on getting needs met, still trusting that others will meet those needs and to begin to move toward meeting the needs of others. The infant, initially unaware of all needs but self-will, learns to adjust to the needs of the parent, usually unwittingly, and thus makes the first cycle toward socialization. The process of socialization is just begun, however. We repeat the cycle over and over again as we grow.
The child who has been successfully trained to control the most essential body functions continues to grow emotionally and, by age 2, has come full circle and demands total autonomy again. It is the province of the 2-year-old to insist on having his or her own way, to win at the clash of wills, to feel godlike. It is a normal, human stage to be grown out of and then revisited periodically and less emphatically throughout life." Thanks, Karren! Any other insights are always welcome.

Cannery and Honey Info

Just a reminder- only one more week for the cannery. Money is due next Sunday, the 14th. Checks should be made payable to Las Vegas Home Storage Center. Items available this time are: Black Beans $4.45; White Beans $4.25; Pinto Beans $4.65; Refied Beans $3.75; Potato Flakes $2.85; Fruit Drink Mix $6.90. **Everyone is encouraged to order at least one can each month.**

ALSO

The Honey order that Laurie Peters sent around is due on February 15th. The order will arrive on March 1st. If you did not receive the email, please let Dee Ann Spilsbury know and she will forward you a copy with the information on it.

Virginia Walker is the lady that does the honey order and she also provides a class on how to substitute sugar for honey, make a facial cream from honey, and has other recipes for using honey. We have asked her to come and give a class to our ward on April 22 at 6:30pm. Because we do not have the building this night, we are asking for anyone that would be interested in hosting this at their home. Virginia will bring everything including homemade rolls using honey. All she would need is a table and for the hostess to provide water to drink. If you can do this for us, please let Dee Ann know right away.
